01 - 8 slices sandwich bread, white, whole wheat, or a mix

02 - 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
03 - 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
04 - 3 ounces sliced cheddar cheese
05 - 3 ounces sliced ham or turkey, optional
06 - 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
07 - 1 small tomato, thinly sliced
08 - 4 lettuce leaves, washed and dried
09 - Salt and black pepper, to taste

10 - Fresh herbs, chives, dill, or parsley, finely chopped, optional
11 - Small pickles or olives, optional

01 - Arrange bread slices in a single layer on a clean cutting board.
02 - Evenly coat each slice with mayonnaise or cream cheese using a spreading knife.
03 - For assorted flavors, layer cheddar cheese and ham or turkey on some slices. On the remaining slices, add cucumber, tomato, and lettuce. Lightly season with salt and black pepper.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices on top to complete the sandwiches.
05 - Press sandwiches gently and remove crusts if desired. Cut each sandwich into four squares or triangles.
06 - Arrange mini sandwiches on a serving platter. Garnish with chopped herbs, pickles, or olives if desired. Serve immediately, or cover with a damp paper towel and refrigerate until needed.
